Planned Breedings

As back to back winners of the National Elevage Award, given to the best breeder in the country in striving for consistency and excellence, we continue to cement our foundational lines in our current, upcoming, and future breedings to offer you the best bred Epagneul Bretons in the US .

At Trinity Bretons we strive to provide you with the best bred Epagneul Bretons in the US, focusing on the three essential components:

  • Drive (Race)

Epagneul Bretons are first and foremost working dogs. It is because of this reality, and the fact that we are first and foremost hunters, that our dogs absolutely must possess insatiable drive to be a part of our breeding program. Drive is the cornerstone of genetics to having a standout bird dog, and you will not find a breeding program with more drive in the country!

  • Structure (Conformation)

Much like drive , structure is very important to us as well. If a dog is not built correctly it cannot reach its maximum potential. Understanding this and conforming to the breed standard is of upmost importance to us. Therefore, we only breed dogs of high drive and correct structure so that you can be confident in the long term ability of your Trinity Breton.

  • Complementarity

This is where we start to blend science and art in our breeding program. We do not simply breed two great dogs and hope to get great dogs. We consider all strengths and weaknesses, along with genetic traits to evaluate the risk vs. reward of the COI (coefficient of inbreeding). This coupled with our evaluation program allows us to continue to cement our genetics and further our breeding program.

Planned Breedings

  • Moose x Aloe

Moose is the best dog we have ever produced, and continues to break records and set milestones in the field trial world. He became the first EB in history to win an American Field Open Shooting Dog stake in 2021, and is the first EB to receive an invitation to the SBHA Invitational Championship in 2022. And while he can go do these things, he has lived his whole life in a one bedroom urban apartment, guided on preserves for foot hunters, and continues to be the lovable step up to any challenge or ask dog we love and cherish in the breed. Aloe is out of our Onnie x Hank breeding and is a granddaughter of Moose, who has TONS of natural point and a love of people and birds alike. This is a line-breeding on Moose as we aim to replicate who and what he is.

  • Moose x Ria

This is HANDS DOWN the most exciting breeding we have ever done. Moose is the foundational sire to our program, and the dog that changed the game for all competitive breeders and field trialers. His name speaks for itself. Ria comes to us directly from France from current number one dog in Europe, Gary du Chemin du Sel, and has incredible race, style, bird drive, and trainability! She is a very special young dog. This breeding will not take place until 2022 at the earliest and will be by request only!

  • Jim x Onnie (Summer 2022)

Onnie is our first 3rd generation dog in the Trinity Breton program. As a daughter of Moose, she inherited his race, bird desire, trainability, and style. She also is conformationally better than her sire, and enhances our breeding program as our premier dam at this time. Jim is a great stud with tons of race, bird desire, and a history of producing great dogs, out of our foundational “Aux Perdrix” lines from near Bordeaux in the south of France. This litter should be amazing, and continue to advance our program and our dogs for generations.

  • Odin x Roo (Fall 2022)

Roo is a young dam that we brought in to the program to add more conformational excellence while not depreciating race and style. Her dam (Bary) is an Aux Perdrix dog imported from Spain, and her sire is Coby du Hameau de Sorny (with fantastic conformation! Odin is his sires son (Moose is his sire), and has the race, style and trainability that we fancy in Trinity dogs. He also brings incredible conformation to the program and this breeding.
